We commit ourselves to knowing God and making God known.
We will follow Jesus by loving God with all our heart, soul,
strength, and mind, and by loving our neighbors as ourselves.

We are filled with images in our culture: happy families, couples in love, beautiful babies held by their mothers, the pastoral landscape of farms and fresh food, but which images are real? What about the single parents struggling, the face of the homeless, refugees in war-torn nations, the carefully crafted advertisements for sex, or the working poor? What is real? How do we know what we should want, what we need, how to live and who directs our paths? Shockingly, or perhaps not shockingly, the answer has not changed from the moment God created and called us as His people so many years ago. In a world that sells so many images sometimes it is hard to know what it means to be created in the image of God. It is hard to extract the overlay of ideological, cultural and even media-driven ideas of how we should live and who we are in the eyes of God. It is hard to hear the voice of God in a world competing for our attention. Perhaps, that is why the community of the church is needed. A place where we can learn about God, see Christ walk beside us in the care and love of others and feel the power of the Holy Spirit convicting and opening our eyes to God.
At Memorial Baptist we are not trying to sell one more image in a world filled with images. We are not interested in bait and switch or selling you on an idea on an illusion of what it means to follow God. We are not interested in watering down the Gospel or adding labels to lure you in to the church. We are doing nothing more than living out the Gospel as children of the resurrection through prayer, worship, teaching, missions and community and through that we are stripping away the layers to get the heart of what it means to be created in the image of God. In the image of a God who loved you enough to die for you and who had the power to conquer death AND life on your behalf. In the image of a God who knows your name and created you for a purpose.
You have a place here. We would love to have you part of our family through out the week and on Sunday mornings in worship. Come be a part of a home striving to be the image of God in the heart of Middlebury.
