Romans 12:4-8

For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

Being part of a family as the Body of Christ means that ALL of us have a role in ministry. A church is a local expression of the universal body of Christ. From teaching, one-on-one discipleship, leading worship, ministering to brothers and sisters, loving and growing our children, supporting families and those with needs, to bringing the Gospel out into the world. It takes ALL of us.

How do we know what to do?
What if we are too busy at this time to serve?
What if our jobs and families require more from us and we have nothing left to give?

All great questions, but what happens when we don't seek God with those questions? We miss opportunities. Spend time with God seeking His will and His direction for where you can serve this year. Some of the needs we have in ministry currently within the Body at MBC:

This list is not exhaustive and will be added to and changed as needed.

  • "Little Branches" Ministry team to 0-4 yr olds - Guide and create the best space and environment for our little ones to be in and to grow in.

  • "Little Branches" Ministry Partners - Volunteer to be with 0-4 year olds once every other month during the Sunday Service.

  • Hospitality Ministry Team helping organize people for food prep and set-up for our Soul Sundays and other special food events such as May and September picnics. (not responsible for meals to individuals

  • Friday AM Parent/Caregiver & Child Playgroup Team - Spend time with parents and kids as they come for community and play.

  • Sunday After Service Coffee Hour - a team of people would be ideal. Duties include making coffee (in cooler months), set up, clean up, keep half & half and snack supplies filled and possibly help to organize others to bring in snacks.

  • Sunday Wonder Kids (ages 2-4) and Children's Church (ages 5-9)  (during the sermon) - Is God calling you to lead or be an aide? We have lots of resources and can even provide guidance if you would like to take on some of the planning. We are keeping volunteering to no more than once a month.

  • Parking Signs need to be put out and brought back in on Sunday Mornings (Court St. and N. Pleasant St lots)

  • Sanctuary Prep Ministry Team responsible for setting up for Sunday. Sometimes that means changing the altar and podium cloths and banners when we enter a new church season; setting the altar table for communion Sundays; and making sure candles are replaced (we keep a supply on site). We also need someone to take charge of occasional flower arrangements for certain Sundays.

  • Flower Beds - Good with flowers and gardening? Our front step area could use some sprucing up and new plants. There is budgeted funds for this.
